Excursion to the Chianti region

Half day Tour - A drive through the wonderful Tuscan countryside with green hills, cypress-ringed villas, abbeys, villages, farmhouses where vineyards, olives and fields of sunflowers mingle with wooded hills to form landscapes of timeless beauty.

We will stop in Greve, considered the "little capital of Chianti". The beautiful main square, flanked by porticoes and terraces has in the center the statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano the famous navigator, born in the area.

We will stop at one of the many famous wineries where you will have a wine tasting of the prestigious Chianti wine, produced and bottled here and distinguished by the trademark of the black rooster.

Full day Tour- You have a choice for this day trip to do either 2 wine tastings or one tasting and then visit San Gimignano.

The first wine tasting of the day is at one of Chianti's most well known vineyards, which is actually an ancient castle. You will take a full tour of the cantinas and then have The full tour will drive you through one of the largest villages in Chianti, set in a magnificent position (500 m. above sea level) in a very attractive setting of vines and olives, to Castellina, an ancient Etruscan settlements and later a fortified outpost against Siena and to Radda, on the border between Firenze and Siena, a lovely village with a well preserved medieval structure.

NOTE: The 16 person bus tour will require an extra one time only payment of € 30 which covers the cost of the vehicle entry into the walls of the town of San Gimignano. The driver will provide you with the receipt. If you decide to tour through Chianti & have two wine tastings then the entry ticket to san Gimignano will NOT apply to the 16 seater seater bus.
